Lunch @OBOakville. Thanks to @ChefBestig for a delicious meal. #GoodEats
With a new look and new menu, Markus invited me out to try a couple of the new items on the menu. I really like the direction that this menu has gone, it's been elevated with lots of tasty and authentic items at very reasonable prices.
I somehow always end up ordering the girliest looking drink... but hey it was good.
Fresh Cactus and Lychee Juice
Really nice flavours in this wrap, there's a touch of heat when your first bite into it but it doesn't linger around in your mouth. The fresh mint and pickled onions rounds out the flavours nicely. Only minor gripe I have with this that the lettuce could have been dried a little better.
Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps with Coconut Rice, Crispy Noodles & Cilantro
One of my favourite dishes of the day. There's always something to be said about a perfectly seared scallop, the sear was just perfectly even on each side. Yes I make a point to always look at the sear, it's just one of those things I always look for. Don't know why, I just do. This scallop made me happy. Another dish with a bit of spice, but the yoghurt cools things down. It's a well balnced dish, with changes in texture, temperature, and flavour balance. Lentils have never been my kinda thing, but this might be the first dish where I actually enjoyed them for once.
Sea Scallops & Lentils with Madras Curried Lentil Dal, Cilantro, and, Lemon Mint Yoghurt
Now for the main attraction. Why? Because last June Markus made something similar to this for me, and it wasn't the biggest hit among some people. Well this dish came out fantastic. The bun is great, fluffly light, just perfect. It's much better than those at Momofuku Noodle Bar in Toronto or those at Bannock (Yesh they're part of the Oliver & Bonacini family of restuants, but the buns are completely different). I could just eat the bun and be happy. But wait, there's more! The filling is a take on a Chinese BBQ Steam Bau, but with a new take and a few ingredients added. With a 25hr marinade, and slow roast, the pulled pork packs some great flavour, contrasting with the fresh slaw which provides some acidity and crunch. Simply said, I want more!

Each day there is a differnt lunch special, I just happen to come on a Friday afternoon for this killer stew. With origins from San Francisco, this dish is a play on a bouillabaisse. Very clean flavours all around, it's hard not to love a dish like this, espcially on a rainy Friday afternoon. It's got everything a good stew should have, great body, tons of favours, and perfectly cooked elements.

Thanks again to Markus for a mini tasting of the new menu, from what I've had here I look forward to coming back to try everything else!
